Professional services.

Our goal is to control our own economy. Skilled professionals help keep essential services, livelihoods, and decisions within our communities. As your budget allows, hire Black-owned service businesses for needs you already have. Services matter as much as products.

Nonprofits belong here too. Black-led and other community-serving nonprofit organizations offer essential services, from food assistance and youth programs to housing support and job training. Support can include volunteering, sharing skills, donating needed supplies, or giving money when affordable.

The lists below are examples of professional types and nonprofit services. They are not verified providers or organizations, and they are not recommendations of any person, business, or nonprofit.

Before you hire

Requirements vary by service and location, and not every kind of work is licensed. Check the licenses and qualifications that apply, along with insurance, references, a written scope of work and the fees. Listing a profession here does not mean anyone has been vetted.

Before using or supporting a nonprofit, check its mission, current programs, eligibility rules, and how contributions are used. Verify an organization independently before donating; nonprofit status alone is not an endorsement, and donations are not automatically tax-deductible.
